FRIDGE-WORTHY NEWS: The Rainy Day Edition

Here’s what’s going on in the AFTERWOR(L)D:

Have you checked out the Bucknell Writing Center’s new blog Bucknell Writes? Well, you should! Their mantra rightfully maintains that “everyone writes,” and the alumni and current student stories that appear on their blog certainly follow in that belief. This wonderful project is spearheaded by current Director of the Writing Center — and Bucknell Alumna! — Deirdre O’Connor.

Congrats to Calvin Manning ’09, who was recently accepted to the University of Denver Publishing Institute! He will spend this July studying the many aspects of the book publishing industry in the Mile-High City.

Congratulations are also in order for Becca Wadlinger ’06, who recently passed her comprehensive examinations at the University of Houston! Becca, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in literature and creative writing, is officially in the ABD (All But Dissertation) stage of her degree. Go, Becca!

K.A. Hays‘ second collection of poetry, Early Creatures, Native Gods, was published by Carnegie Mellon Press this past January.

And, lastly, Christine Jessica Margaret Reilly‘s poetry manuscript is a finalist in the Write Bloody Competition. All of the finalists have uploaded videos of themselves reading their work and are craving your “likes” on YouTube. Help a poet out by watching and liking Christine’s poem below!

We’re proud of our alumni / faculty accomplishments, and wish to update the door of our metaphorical fridge often.  Send your job/publication/happy news to bucknellafterword@bucknell.edu!
