Welcome to the Afterword!

As much as post-Bucknell life has its perks, many of us have already found that it also hinders our time to write. Furthermore, many of you have voiced that you miss being a part of a community of writers. Honestly, I can’t help but feel the same way. There’s something so awesome about living in a flourishing writing community where one’s writing was not only taken seriously as an art, but was also graciously received. Who doesn’t yearn for the creative writing workshops we took in the most unlikely of places (like Rooke Chem!), or the wonderful Stadler Center readings that took place in Bucknell Hall, or the hours at 7th Street Cafe we spent sipping on tea as we chatted poetry, prose, and the like? And — more importantly — who doesn’t yearn for the days where we could totally want to have a “Poetry and Pints”-themed party, and not be called lame?!

So, here’s what I’ve been thinking: why don’t we start our own post-grad community of writers? Through this blog, I hope that we can keep abreast of all of the kick-ass things that our alumni are accomplishing in the real world, and create features that connect alumni of all years to one another. For those of you who still write, perhaps we can share writing exercises and workshop one another’s poems or prose. Even if you’re applying for jobs or grad school, hell, I don’t see why we couldn’t offer feedback on cover letters. Whatever the group needs, someone could certainly come forward to provide it, because that’s the kind of people we are, anyway: creative like that.

Of course, you all would be able to participate as little or as much as you would like to — it is all up to you. We’d love to have you on board, regardless of whether you are blogging, writing features, or just lurking. We missed you. Welcome home.

Thanks so much.

Best,
