JESSICA VOORIS (contributing blogger) graduated in 2009 from Bucknell University where she double-majored in Creative Writing and Women and Gender Studies. This past year she was working in Chiapas, Mexico on an anthropology project focusing on the Mayan village of Zinacantan. It was an amazing experience. Along with gathering a lot of cultural information she learned to speak some Tzotzil, bathe with buckets, wash all her clothes by hand, and deal with flea bites. She also made some wonderful friends. In the fall she will be going to the University of MD, College Park to begin the doctoral program in Women’s Studies. Interests include writing poetry, kayaking the Choptank River, birdwatching, Spanish, and playing with kids.
