National Poetry Month Day 8: Your Weekly Poetry Challenge!

So we’ve been throwing all sorts of poetry at you this past week — now it’s time to exercise your poetic muscles with our writing exercise of the week!

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE: Color Coding

Pick a color. For the rest of the day, take inventory of everything you see that is of that color. Don’t edit at this point: really include everything. At the end of the day, take a look at your list and construct a poem including all of the items you experienced. Do not mention the name of your color within the poem.

We’d love to see your results — feel free to post in the comments section below, mention it on Twitter, or e-mail to us at bucknellafterword@gmail.com. Happy writing!

  1. I’m working on my “Red-Line, DC” poem, though with the amount of work I have for the end of the semester, it might not be posted till the summer.
